About FTO

The Family-Teacher Organization (FTO) serves as the prime organizer of community gatherings and fundraising events for Desert Willow Family School (DWFS).

We are a non-commercial, non-partisan, non-sectarian organization dedicated to serving the teachers, staff, and families that form the DWFS community.

The FTO sponsors social events that double as community building and fundraising traditions for Family School. In addition to organizing the major annual events such as the Square Dance, Used Book Sale, and Spring Auction, as well as supporting the classroom teachers and coordinating hospitality for Art & Poetry Night and Inquiry Fair, the FTO does a lot of "little" things as well that make a big difference in supporting the DWFS teachers and families.

The DWFS-FTO is an IRS-registered 501(c)3 non-profit organization. The FTO consists of all parents and legal guardians of children attending DWFS; all students, faculty, and staff of DWFS; and all administrative personnel of DWFS.

How to Get Involved

Big Ways to Help

• Serve as an FTO Officer (President, Vice-President, Treasurer, or Secretary)
• Chair a social event
• Lead a fundraiser (e.g., Grocery Scrip, Gift Cards, Boxtops)

Little Ways to Help (everything counts!)

• Serve as a Classroom FTO Representative or attend at least one meeting
• Organize the Teacher Appreciation Lunch for your class
• Organize a classroom auction basket or seek company donations
• Sign-up for a ½-hour session to help at an event
